This Is About My Soccer Journey!

About Haley:

Hello, my name is Haley Miller, and I’m 18 Years old. I was born and raised in San Diego, California, and I started playing soccer when I was four. I grew up playing at San Diego Surf and went on various trips to Canada, Costa Rica, and Portugal with the U.S. Youth Futsal National Team. My family moved to Incline Village, Nevada, in 2017. While living there, I played for the local high school and San Juan Soccer Club from Reno, NV. I also discovered a passion for competitive rock climbing and being a ski instructor. In August 2019, my family moved to Scappoose, Oregon, so I could pursue my dream and passion of being a National Team & Pro Soccer player. We decided that the Thorns Academy would be the best for my development and career. After careful consideration and discussions with the Thorns and my parents, we decided to move forward and move to Portland, OR. I received a call to join the Thorns 1st team in training just before my 16th birthday and have never looked back! I was very fortunate to get the opportunity to train with the 1st Team during the 2020 season, and I started training full-time for the 1st Team during the 2021 & 2022 seasons. My goal/aspirations are to play for the USWNT and Professionally.

  • USYNFT  2015-19
Futsal has always been a passion of mine. I have always loved how technically demanding and high pace the game is. In 2015, I made the YNFT for the first time and represented the U.S. in Toronto, Canada. I’ve also been honored to represent the U.S. in Costa Rica and Portugal. My favorite part about these trips was experiencing different countries’ futsal/soccer cultures.
  • Portland Thorns T.P. 2020-22
For the past three seasons, I have had the pleasure of training with the Portland Thorns Fc, 1st Team. It has been a great experience to live in the day to day of a pro player. Being in the pro-environment has helped me grow tremendously in the game’s technical, physical, and mental parts. The highlight has been learning from/getting to know world-class coaches and players.
  • Debut against Chicago Red Stars; Thorns Pre-season Tournament- March 11, 2022
I am honored to have made my professional debut against the Chicago Red Stars in the Thorns Pre-season Tournament. I became the 1st ever Thorns Academy player to make a pre-season debut for the 1st Team. It was a dream come true to step on the field and play in a professional game.
  • Timbers and Thorns Ukraine Charity Match- April 27, 2022 It was an honor to be a part of the Timbers and Thorns Ukraine Charity Match. I played the entire 2nd half for team Yellow as a center-back. Not only was it special to play with/learn from brilliant coaches and players, but I was so grateful to be a part of raising awareness and money for a significant cause.
  • WPSL Northwest Conference Best XI 2022
This past summer, I played with the Westside Metros in the WPSL. I enjoyed playing against top college and pro competitions. At the end of the season, I played with the Westside Metros in the WPSL.  At the end of the season, I was blessed to be named to the WPSL Northwest Conference Best XI, the youngest and only high schooler to achieve this.
